Morning journal meditation, while helping a friend through an icky work situation:
< < When we make mistakes and feel ashamed/ bad about ourselves, even when our missteps are justified by others’ unkind missteps, we want to run away from the people and situations that caused our pain. However, we cannot run away from ourselves. Shame is something that must be examined and healed from within. >>
I wish our culture talked more openly and often about shame. It’s just another human emotion…

Laurie–I appreciated your insight about shame and how we can’t run away from ourselves. Really on point.
Thanks, Sarah! Also that blaming others doesn’t make us feel better or stop the deeper, perhaps unconscious pain of blaming ourselves…
Shame, Shame ! I feel no pain !!!
So you screwed up. I do it often enough; but don’t fret over it. LET IT GO !
We all have a head. Inside the head is our brain. Inside or brain is our mind. It sits atop our neck & shoulders & is intrinsically connected to out Heart.
So; Who’s the boss ? Not your head; Not your brain; Not your mind ? YOU ARE ! So be the Boss & take control ! Let the bad stuff go !! And don’t wallow in it. It’s called the “Release Technique”. It took me 45 years to figure this out. With the help of a smart Guru or two.
Feelings are the key to fuel the bad & good results. The God power in the universe is no respecter of persons. Ahhh… I feel better already.
I have a mantra: “I f***’ed up; I forgive myself; I’m letting it go.”
